One in six American girls pledge to remain a virgin until they marry. They attend so called “purity balls” and even sign a contract. This topic is very controversial as even girls as young as five years old attend these balls. Also it doesn’t sound very realistic and even parents of some girls who pledge to stay a virgin went down a different path when they were young. What makes them tell their daughters to act differently?
Jean Treays follows a group of fathers and their daughters as they prepare for a purity ball in Colorado Springs. The documentary gives insight in problems and challenges these young women have to face and why they want to remain a virgin until they marry.
