The Colosseum, or Flavian Amphitheathre, in Rome was built around 72 ac. It is the largest one that was built in the Roman Empire. It was used as venue for gladiatorial shows and other events.

This documentary shows the life of Verus, a famous gladiator. After travelling fifty days to Italy he had to cut stones with other slaves. Luckily he was choosen to be a gladiator. This was his way out of slavery. He´d rather fight than cut stones and be a slave for the rest of his life. Though he was sometimes badly ingured, he survived.
